Lincoln New Hampshire Mutual Aid 7/17/2000 Lincoln was called to a structure fire this evening at around 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival of the first unit the report came back as flames showing. Another alarm was asked to be struck at that time. This structure was a long 3 story wood frame building occupied as a 104 unit condominium type building used by owners and rented out. Located on the east end of Main Street almost directly across from the Loon Mountain Ski Resort. The building was mostly wood frame construction. Fortunately, the time was an important factor in the reports of no injuries. Most condo owners and renters were not around on this week day Monday night. Around 10:15 p.m Littleton Fire was requested to respond to the scene with Ladder 1 and crew. Shortly, thereafter a full crew consisting of Captain Whitcomb, Firefighters Ray Bowler, Jim Pineo, Nick Antonucci, and Todd McKee left the station. This trip was mostly up hill to the south through Franconia Notch and out the other side to Lincoln at Exit 32 Interstate 93. This trip by private vehicle would normally be 25 to 30 minutes but with this load took a little longer. Approaching the scene Ladder 1 was given the assignment to the rear of the building to stop the lateral progression of the fire. Using ladder pipe set up above roof line and the rest of the crew accessed the roof to start a trench cut. The below pictures are the first 3 of the front of the building. Bear in mind you are only looking at about 1/3 of the length. Also note in a front picture the "V" shaped scorching from ground level.
The next series of picture are taken from the rear of the structure and each picture matches up to the front views above.
Well, while all this is going on another alarm came in for a building fire a block and a half east of this location at the Common Man Restaurant. Station cover apparatus are sent to the call. First truck on the scene has a report of "Flames Showing give me a second". That story next!! |
